What is Restorative Exercise™? Restorative Exercise is a corrective and functional movement alignment program that applies the principles of biomechanics to the body and how it functions. This includes education, restoring optimal muscle length, and teaching practical ways to add more natural movement into your daily life. Common areas addressed (brought about by a population of shoe wearing, sedentary people) include pelvic floor dysfunction, hyper-kyphosis, joint pain, low bone density, hip, lower back and knee issues, etc. The conveniences of modern living limit and alter how we move; this deficiency changes how our cells behave, how our bodies are formed and how our organs function. The way to health is not through intensive, repetitive exercise bouts to offset sedentary hours; it's through abundant whole body movement. Restorative Exercise is a certifying program taught by Nutritious Movement founder Katy Bowman and requires two years of study, a week-long in-person training, and numerous written exams. Certification is maintained with rigorous advanced studies on a weekly basis (This is not a weekend course!) |
